Meet Kristen, Founder
Business Operations & Support Specialist
Supporting businesses has been part of my story for more than 20 years. With an education in Business Administration and Marketing and a career spanning administration, customer care, operations and entrepreneurship, I've spent a lot of years learning what makes a business work behind the scenes.
But some of my biggest lessons came from building my own.
In 2016, I started a residential and commercial cleaning business from the ground up. Over the next decade, it grew to serve more than 350 clients and a team of employees — which meant I learned firsthand what happens when a business grows and suddenly there are a lot more moving pieces to manage.
My career began in the fast-paced world of big tech in Calgary and eventually brought me to the construction industry here in the Okanagan. Working in these different environments has given me hands-on experience managing the details, deadlines, systems and people that keep a business running behind the scenes.
At AnchorPointe, my role goes beyond payroll and HR. I work alongside Kristen to help put the right support in place for our clients — including helping organize and clean up the day-to-day work that has become difficult for the business owner to keep up with.
I also help coordinate the people and ongoing support behind our clients, helping make sure the work we've taken on continues to get done reliably and consistently..
When I'm not making payroll behave, I'm probably camping, dancing at a concert or hanging out with my husband, our 13-year-old son and friends.
I like to think I'm equal parts professional and approachable. I take payroll seriously... me, not so much.
For the record, I still don't run with scissors.
I handled the scheduling, hiring and training, payroll, client communication, marketing, systems, processes, bookkeeping and problem-solving that came with it — while wearing approximately 47 different hats on any given day.
And I learned something important along the way:
Getting more clients doesn't necessarily make running a business easier.
If the systems, processes and support behind the business don't grow with it, more business can simply mean more work landing on the owner's desk.
That's a big part of why I created AnchorPointe.
Today, I work alongside business owners to figure out what's taking up their time, slowing things down or getting in the way of where they want to take their business — and then I help do the work to change it.
I'm not here to hand you a list of recommendations and leave you to figure out how to implement them. We might improve a process, organize a workflow, build a system, coordinate a project or take ongoing work off your desk. Whatever the solution looks like, the goal is to make the business work better behind the scenes.
And this is genuinely the work I love.
Give me a messy calendar, an overflowing inbox, a business running in twelve different directions or a process that makes everyone ask, “Why are we doing it this way?” and I'm in my happy place.
I'm proudly uber-organized, a little obsessed with efficient systems and yes... I may get a little too excited about colour-coded spreadsheets.
My goal is to clear the path between where your business is today and where you want to take it — by helping get the right work done behind the scenes.
